EUDI Credential Lifecycle

How does the EUDI Wallet work?

Discover how EUDI Credentials are issued, stored, presented, and verified securely across Europe, empowering citizens with privacy and control.

User receives an EUDI Credential from an EUDI Issuer

A citizen opens their EUDI Wallet app and requests a credential from an official EUDI Issuer (such as a government authority, university, or other trusted entity recognized under eIDAS 2.0). The Issuer verifies the user's identity according to European standards. Once verified, the Issuer creates and cryptographically signs the EUDI Credential, which is securely delivered and stored in the user's EUDI Wallet. The digital signature ensures authenticity and compliance with EU regulations.
